Friends of Sheet School
Why do we have a PTA?
We are fortunate at our school to have a PTA that is and has been an integral part of the school community for many years. In its time FOSS has raised many thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s educational experience, and the school’s facilities.
FOSS is about much more than simply fundraising. It exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It’s fun too - just ask any of the Committee members or helpers.
Not all of our events are run as fundraisers. We organise many social activities, such as our Easter Egg Roll, or an annual Christmas Party, that enable the children just to have a fun time. We also support the school, for example by providing refreshments at school events, or running a Secret Santa for the children.
We feel very proud of all the funds that FOSS raises, thanks to everyone’s hard work. Last year we raised almost £7500 – a staggering amount considering the size of the school.
How we spend the money we raise
We have a number of school activities we support every year such as school trips, as well as one off purchases like sport or play equipment. We have a close relationship with the staff and governors of the school, and discuss both short and long-term fundraising targets. Sometimes this will be as a result of the children asking for something, for example we recently contributed to new playground markings that the children had selected.
How you can get involved
There are lots of ways you can help and support your child through FOSS. Offering to help before events or at other times during the year is so valuable. It doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis, or even if you cannot come into school. There are always jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare e.g. wrapping gifts, preparing raffle tickets etc. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the behind the scenes help that we receive.
Easy Fundraising has raised over £1000 for FOSS. It's an easy way to raise funds for the school by when shopping online. Simply follow this link to register:
100 Club we have a lottery where you buy a numbered ticket and are entered into a monthly draw. A percentage is given to FOSS to fund further school purchases and projects and the rest is given as prize money.
