Week 3 - Air Resistance

This week we learnt about air resistance and how it affects the car.

We were in teams of 3 – 4 and had a bin bag, string, skewer sticks and one egg.  We tied 4 long pieces of string to the 4 corners of the bag to make a parachute and made a raft from the skewers to hang below it.  We then cellotaped our team eggs to the raft.

After that we went outside to the climbing frame to drop our eggs from the very top.  We put a table underneath us on the floor.  Some teams decided to put a glove around their eggs!

The results were good – none of the eggs cracked!  This proved that air resistance slows things down.
