Despite the absolutely freezing conditions, they threw themselves into a variety of games as well as a mini-tournament, displaying excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the afternoon. Well done to all five children for representing the school so positively!

The children rose to the occasion brilliantly, showing great enthusiasm, focus, and teamwork throughout their performances. Their behaviour was exemplary, and they represented the school with pride.

In addition to performing, the pupils were able to experience a wide range of live music. They enjoyed listening to talented wind and jazz bands, as well as accomplished singers and violinists. 

Overall, it was a rewarding and enriching experience for everyone involved. The festival not only celebrated music but also helped the children grow in confidence and appreciation for live performance. Well done, Year 5!

In the lead-up to the event, the team dedicated time to developing their skills, focusing on coordination, communication, and match strategy. Their hard work paid off, as Shamelsdale delivered an impressive performance throughout the evening, ultimately securing a well-earned third place finish.

Beyond the results, the event was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to build friendships, demonstrate resilience, and enjoy the spirit of healthy competition. The positive attitude and sportsmanship shown by all players made the experience even more rewarding.

A special thank you goes to the parents who supported the team by providing transport and staying to cheer them on during the session. Your encouragement and commitment are greatly appreciated.

The books were carefully selected by our teaching staff from recommended reading lists for each classroom, ensuring that every title is engaging, high quality, and perfectly matched to the children’s interests and reading levels. From beautifully illustrated stories to inspiring and informative reads, these books will support learning, spark curiosity, and nurture a lifelong love of reading.

The children were absolutely delighted to explore the new arrivals, and teachers have already begun using them in class, where they have been warmly received. Having such fantastic resources available not only enriches classroom learning but also strengthens our library as a welcoming, inspiring space for all.

This act of generosity reflects a deep support for our school community and for the value of reading in children’s lives. We are truly grateful for this kindness and for the lasting benefit these books will bring to our pupils for many years to come.

The morning was filled with music and joy, beginning with beautiful performances on the organ and piano by some of our very talented children. Their confidence and musicianship were truly inspiring and set a lovely tone for the rest of the event.

We were also treated to an insightful and heartfelt speech by the EARA group, who reminded us of the importance of inclusion, understanding, and supporting one another—values that lie at the heart of our community.

The celebration concluded with wonderful singing from the children, whose enthusiasm and bright voices filled the room with happiness and warmth. Their songs captured the spirit of the harvest perfectly—gratitude, sharing, and hope.

A huge thank-you to everyone who attended and helped make the Harvest Festival such a memorable and uplifting event. It was a true reflection of our school’s community spirit and the joy of coming together to celebrate all that we have.

On Sunday 14th September, the steep slopes of Hampshire’s famous Butser Hill were once again alive with energy, excitement, and determination as over 250 junior runners gathered for the annual Butser Hill Challenge, proudly organised by Churcher’s College.

With children from local schools taking part, the event showcased not just athletic talent, but also resilience and team spirit as the runners faced the gruelling climb up the iconic hill. The course is renowned for its punishing gradient, but that didn’t stop our young athletes from giving it their all.

Among the standout performances from our school were:

• Luna and Sophie (Year 3), who showed fantastic courage and enthusiasm in their first taste of the challenge.

• Ted (Year 5), who stormed up the hill to secure an impressive 2nd place in the boys’ race — a brilliant achievement in such a competitive field.

• George (Year 6), who pushed hard and finished strongly, rounding off a superb day of racing.

The atmosphere was buzzing, with families and friends lining the route, cheering on every runner as they conquered the tough ascent. The day wasn’t just about placings — it was about celebrating effort, determination, and the joy of being part of such a memorable community event.

We’re proud to announce that our team came away with several personal bests, some well-earned medals and we WON! Even more importantly, they represented our school brilliantly with their positive attitudes and great sportsmanship.
