Meet our Governors

Vaughan Clarke

I am married with two daughters and have lived in Sheet for the past 35 years.  Now retired I have worked in both education and industry, and now work on encouraging young people into engineering and science.

I am very active in the local community, representing St Mary’s Ward on Petersfield Town Council for 16 years and have served twice as the Mayor of Petersfield. I have also been the County Councillor for the Petersfield Hangers Division, which includes 1/3 of the Town.

I have been a Governor of Sheet primary School for 14 years.

On a wider front, I am currently the Chairman of Petersfield Museum and on the committee of the Open Air Swimming Pool, as well as being active with many local organisations.

Over the last 10 years I have helped to organise a number of the major events within Petersfield, including the Railway 150 day, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the railway in Petersfield, and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

 Catherine Stead

I’ve had the pleasure of working at Sheet Primary School now for two years. I am the Year5/6 class teacher, key stage 2 leader and also on the senior management team. I also lead and develop the teaching of English and science across the school.

I have been teaching since 2006.  In my first teaching post, I taught across the whole of key stage 2 and had the responsibility of developing English. In my second teaching post, I moved on to upper key stage 2 and was assistant head. I really enjoyed the added responsibility of being part of the senior management team as it gave me the opportunity to actually make a difference to how the children received their education.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling. Having recently completed a road trip round parts of America, I’m hoping to work my way around the world! Also, I am very partial to an afternoon tea.

I am highly committed to ensuring that our pupils receive the best possible education, through a range of stimulating, creative and exciting experiences. I believe that enjoyment in the classroom helps to create a positive learning environment.

 Julie Robinson

I currently live in Rogate with my husband and two children aged 19 and 18.

I decided to train to be a teacher when my children were very young. I qualified in 2003 and since then I have worked in a number of different schools; Camelsdale Primary as a class teacher and Senior Leader, Northchapel Primary School as joint Head, Godalming Junior School as Deputy Head/SENCo and Acting Head.

I joined Sheet Primary School as Headteacher in April 2015 and gained my NPQH in the same year.

My motivations; I have a passion for making a difference to the lives of children and their families here, for ensuring that each and every child and adult in my school has the opportunity to be the best they can be. I encourage my teachers to be creative, to design interesting and stimulating lessons that give children the opportunity to grow and thrive in today’s society.

Andrew Gray

have lived in Petersfield since 2002 with two girls who both attend Sheet.  I have been a secondary teacher since 1996; currently I am working in a local secondary school where I have been a senior manager since 2005.  I have a MA in Education and I passed Headteachers qualification, NPQH in 2011.  I am a trained Ofsted Inspector and I have a keen interest in all educational issues.  I am keen to act as a critical friend for the school while helping in any capacity the school needs me too.  Before becoming a teacher I worked in the IT industry for 10 years after serving in the Royal Navy for 5 and a half years.

David Heath

I been a Governor at Sheet School since 2015 and am currently in the role of Chair.  I'm married to Karen and we have three grown up daughters who all attended Sheet School.  I have spent many years working in HR, currently supporting Ove Arup leading the transformation of their resourcing capability, and hope to bring these skills to the school.

Judy Chesney

I am married with three young children, the eldest of which has started at Sheet this academic year (2017/18). I believe that our School is a fun, nurturing and positive place for the children to grow and learn and as a parent Governor I want to be able to support and help the School as it continues to strive for excellence.

During my career I have spent 5 years managing a service provided to the Education Sector which has given me exposure to working with a wide variety of Schools and I hope this familiarity with the school environment will assist me with my role as Governor.

I have lived in or local to Petersfield all of my life and time permitting I enjoy running and cycling."

Tim Patient

I have been a parent governor for the last two years and have two children Phoebe and Oliver, both of whom have thoroughly enjoyed life at Sheet Primary school and its nurturing environment. I have lived In Sheet since 2004 and enjoyed an active involvement in life in Sheet.

It is important to me to create an environment whereby each child is valued and develops their own self-esteem and confidence, so that they can excel both academically and creatively. As a Governor, I am keen to contribute and so enable both the school and all pupils to achieve outstanding results.

Howard Radcliffe

I  am married with two daughters and have lived in Petersfield for over 12 years. Both of my children currently attend Sheet Primary School and I have been a Governor for the school for the last two years. I work in the food manufacturing industry and head up a procurement team for a food business based near Chichester. My work gives me valuable financial experience, which I put to good use within both the school governing body and the resources committee. I am a keen cyclist, being a member of a cycling club based in Cowplain and I am a regular entrant in the Petersfield triathlon.

Rev Richard Saunders

I grew up in Dorset and have an engineering background, being involved in making aeroplane engines in Bristol for several years before becoming a vicar.  I have led churches in Upminster & Bournemouth before becoming the Vicar of Sheet in 2012. I am married to Jo and we have two grown up sons.   In my spare time I enjoy walking and the odd DIY project.  I count it as a privilege to serve as an Associate Governor and to take an assembly or two each term.on content

Jane Shore

'Having obtained a French degree at Exeter University, I spent five years working in an investment bank in both Paris and London. A desire for a career change prompted me to take a MBA at Cranfield after which I spent four years in group strategy at Thomas Cook again in Paris and London. My real love has been raising our three children, now 21, 19 and 17 and ensuring they are happy. I can also be found in my garden, a place I have transformed from a bramble jungle to a flower haven!! I also enjoy opera, reading and playing the piano'

Elaine Heywood

Elaine Heywood is a experienced solicitor who works for a large regional law firm.  Her background is commercial litigation and dispute resolution, professional negligence, risk and reputation management, publishing and information law. She now specialises in risk and compliance.

Having trained in the City, Elaine moved to Petersfield over 20 years and since then, has attended St Mary Magdalen, Sheet with her family. She is married with two teenage children and a dog.

Andy Martin

I have lived in Petersfield for just over 10 years with
two daughters at the school and a son who can’t wait to start in 2018.  I work in public relations and have a longstanding interest in politics and media.  I am very keen to support the school in developing access to sports and looking at ways in which we can continue to improve the whole school experience.

I previously worked for the Teacher of the Year competition and spent a little time looking at education policy development (but that was nearly twenty years ago)!  Having recently set up my own business I don’t find much time for hobbies, but do try and spend time supporting the children with all theirs!

Robert Fanshawe

Our family relocated back to the UK at the end of 2016 after spending 10 years in Sydney and Singapore. We have two young children; our son joined reception at Sheet school this year (2017) and our daughter is going to be hot on his heels!

I work in HR and Recruitment with both service and technology experience as well as having a passion for sports and fitness - my wife Tessa Fanshawe is a PT in the area. Having grown up with a mum who was a state school deputy head I am keen to give my time and energy to the local school. I am keen to support the school in the areas of IT and sport as well as continue to help every child get the best they can out of their time with the school.
