SPELLING STRATEGIES

SPELLINGS

SOME SPELLING RULES
  • When an ‘o’ sound follows a ‘w’ sound, it is often spelt with the letter ‘a’. This is also true for ‘qu’ as in- want, was, wash, squash, squad, quarrel.

  • When an ‘ur’ sound follows the letter ‘w’ it is usually spelt ‘or’ as in worm, word, world.
