Autumn 14                                      19 December 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of another busy and joyful term, we would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly magical end to the year here at school and to thank our wonderful community for your continued support.

This final week has been packed full of festive cheer and memorable moments for our children. We were delighted to listen to Dino, who played a wonderful solo on his trombone for Kestrel Class. His confidence and musical talent were a joy to see, and the children listened with rapt attention. Music continued to fill the school as our talented violinists shared a beautiful rendition of their recent learning with Heron Class. It was a proud moment for all involved and a lovely example of pupils inspiring one another.

One of the highlights of the week was our Christmas gift room, made possible by the kindness and generosity of our volunteer parents and grandparents. They gave up their time to help the children carefully choose, wrap and label a Christmas gift to take home and give as a surprise to a loved one. The excitement on the children’s faces – and the secrecy they tried so hard to keep – was priceless. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this such a special experience - Thank you to the FOSS team!

Our Christmas lunch was another huge success. The hall was filled with laughter, festive music and the delicious smells of a traditional Christmas dinner enjoyed together. The excitement reached new heights when we were visited by the great man himself, who took time out of his very busy schedule to pop in and spread some festive cheer. This surprise visit created memories that will last a long time for our children.

Behind the scenes, our staff have also been working incredibly hard all term, and last night we enjoyed a well-earned Christmas celebration together. It is a small but important way to thank them for their dedication, care and commitment to the children every single day.

The festive fun continues at 1.15pm today with our Rudolf Run, which promises to be a wonderful, active way to celebrate together. We are also very excited to be opening our new wildlife garden and outdoor classroom. This fantastic new space will provide enriching opportunities for learning, exploration and wellbeing for years to come, and we can’t wait to see the children make full use of it. Families are warmly invited to come and join us for a Merry Christmas run, drink and celebration as we mark these special occasions together.

As always, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to you all FOSS team and governors. Your ongoing support, encouragement and partnership with the school mean so much and make a real difference to the life of our community. We truly could not do what we do without you.

We wish you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Please note that there will be an INSET day on Monday 5th January, and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school refreshed and ready for the new term on Tuesday 6th when we welcome Mrs Marie Perry onto the LSA team in the Kingfishers.

Thank you once again for a fantastic year. Merry Christmas from all of us at school.
