Spring 10                                                    15 March 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

It's always busy but this week has been another exceptional week at school. We have celebrated British Science week, Dee Tickner has been in to introduce our next design competition, some year 5's went to Greatham school as part of their Equality Rights Advocates work with Mrs Hines, all year 5s have been busy practising for their concert next week and today we raised money for Red Nose Day with Kestrels taking the lead with their mini-fair.

As you may know, Mrs Arend has organised another of her amazing Easter Raffles - tickets are on sale in the office and I will try to get some Year 6s out selling them in the playground lest you forget. Β£2 a strip of 5.

We have received only one Living streets badge entry competition but what a wonderful design - See below.....Well done Enid!

So a deep breath and onto next week....just as busy ;)

Year 5s take part in Petersfield Music Festival on Monday morning (rehearsal) Monday evening and Wednesday evening. See letter sent out 13th March with details on the website under 'Parents' letters to parents.  Sheet singers polo shirts will be given out on Monday. See you there at 6.40pm - no earlier please!

Jam coding are coming in to do an assembly on Tuesday - they start their new club Retro Gaming, Animation, and Minecraft for Juniors. The sessions will be an hour long and cost Β£11 a week on a Thursday after school. Leaflets will be sent out with children next week. They also offer Easter clubs with FREE school meals,  in  Haslemere. Please check the links for more information https://clipurl.app/jgrayswood.

British Science Week

The year 5s went to Stepping Stones Playgroup where they helped the children take part in a variety of science experiments including erupting volcanoes. Science day on Thursday went brilliantly with all children bringing home something to do with wildlife and looking after our planet. Well done to all staff for a busy old day and to Mrs Newton our science co-ordinator who organised the day so well. .....  see pictures here

E-safety is more about their parenting and communication skills than technology

It isn’t enough to protect children from online harms by simply banning sites or installing firewalls and filters.

Please maintain an open and ongoing discussion about online safety at home/as a family/with your children.

Tips, advice, guides and resources to help keep your child safe online

As a parent or carer you play a key role in helping your child to stay safe online.

You don’t need to be an expert on the internet to help keep your child stay safe online. Our advice and resources are here to support you as you support your child to use the internet safely, responsibility and positively.

This is a great site that will give you tips and help you to start conversations with your children about online use, risks, safety measures.
