Summer 8                                                    20 June 2025

Dear Parents,

There are bees nests on the wall outside school (just next to School House where the tall trees have been cut) be careful!

What a hot week! We said a sad farewell to Stu Wainwright our caretaker this morning in assembly. He has been with us for 3 years and has done a great job. Neil Tyrell (who lives just next door) will be starting with us next week. So a warm welcome to Mr Tyrell!

This week year 3/4 children had a great time at Bohunt in a rounders match, well done to the children who attended with Miss Buxey.

Our violin teacher, Mrs Hughes together with Poppy and Lucy Rose, played to Herons and Kingfishers classes on Thursday.  If your child is interested in violin lessons for September, do let us know, they are very reasonably priced at £8 for a shared lesson and Mrs Hughes will be starting a beginners group.

Next week:

Monday: Don't forget swimming kits (junior Y2/4 and selected 5/6)

Wednesday: Class photos day,  please ensure your child comes into school wearing smart school uniform (and not PE kits).   (Kestrels class will not have PE this Wednesday).  Year 6s, please bring in your home clothes with your leaver's hoodies for your leavers photo.  We also interview for a new SENCo.

There is a year 5/6 rounders tournament at Langrish

Thursday: Engineering day at Churchers College for selected Year 5 pupils (please return your consent form - still waiting for 2) This finishes at 2.30pm and parents need to organise the pick up. Please see letter sent out.

Selected children will be attending the 'Hampshire Sports Festival' again this year - again please see letter dated 10th June with requirements for pick up and drop off.

Year 4 camp: The long awaited annual year 4 camp evening takes place on Thursday night - how exciting - please consult the letter sent 21/5 with list of requirements and consent form.

We have three secondary school pupils coming in next week to help out: Delilah Carr, Oliver Glanville and Isabel faithful (the cook's daughter) we hope they enjoy their week!

Enjoy the heatwave and please take care in the sun and don't forget the Sheet Village Tea and Cake event on Sunday 2-5pm.

Girls into coding our very own ex-pupil presents...

Our very own ex-pupil Emily Morrill is a guest speaker at this prestigious event in London.

 GIRLS INTO CODING – June 22nd, 2025

Emily Morrill

 “My Coding Journey”

Emily is 13 years old with a love of inventing! She enjoys doing this in many different ways; through writing, building and coding. Writing stories and creating things are things Emily has done since she was very little. Coding is something that she first became interested in around Year 5 at school. Girls into Coding sparked an interest and, as well as attending the workshops, Emily uses Micro:bit at home to practise coding. Emily enjoys the bringing together of the design, build and coding at Girls into Coding! Outside of school you will find Emily outdoors (hiking, camping, kayaking, riding, paddleboarding), reading, cooking / baking and creating! Emily is currently interested in a career in engineering and some of the environmental examples from Girls into Coding have sparked an interest in this area. Emily is about to start her GCSEs and hopes to take computer science as one of her subjects.

Wow! Go Emily!
