Spring 6                                                13 February 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we arrive at the final week before half term, there is a real sense of pride and accomplishment across the school. The spring term has been full of energy, hard work and memorable experiences, and I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has played a part in making it such a success.

First and foremost, a huge thank you to our wonderful staff. Their dedication, care and commitment to every child in our school community never goes unnoticed. From carefully planned lessons to the many “extras” that enrich school life, they give so much of themselves each day. Schools are busy places, and it is only through teamwork, professionalism and good humour that we are able to provide the opportunities our children enjoy. I am extremely grateful for everything they do.

I would also like to thank you, our parents and carers, for your continued engagement and positivity. Your support at home, your attendance at events, and your encouragement of the children make a tremendous difference. A strong partnership between home and school is one of our greatest strengths, and it is always heartening to see that in action.

Many of you will have noticed that I have been out of school for just over a week. My sister was seriously ill and I needed to return to Herefordshire to be with my family at a difficult time. I am very grateful for the kind messages and understanding shown by so many of you. Family is incredibly important, and I appreciated being able to support mine when it was needed most. I will be returning to Herefordshire again during half term to continue helping out. Thank you for your compassion and support.

Despite this being the final week of term, it has certainly not been a quiet one! Our Year 1 and Year 2 children had a magical experience when they visited Churcher’s College to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The excitement was palpable, and the children represented the school beautifully. Live theatre is such a powerful way to inspire imagination and creativity, and it was wonderful to hear them talking enthusiastically about their favourite moments back in school.

Talking of live theatre, there will be a quick 'forms' questionnaire going around for the juniors on the subject of going to watch 'The Lion King' in London, please respond so that we can book ASAP.

Meanwhile, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils travelled to Farnham to visit a mosque as part of their RE learning about Islam. Experiences like this bring learning to life and deepen understanding in a way that classroom discussion alone cannot. The children asked thoughtful, respectful questions and gained valuable insight into the beliefs and practices of others. We are proud of the maturity and curiosity they demonstrated throughout the visit.

We were also delighted that four lucky Kestrels attended a music morning at Bedales. Opportunities to collaborate and perform beyond our own setting are invaluable, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Music continues to be a vibrant and joyful part of school life, and it was wonderful to see our pupils embracing it with such enthusiasm.

As we reach the end of term, there is a real sense of “all go” right up to the finish line! The children have worked incredibly hard and deserve a well-earned rest. Half term provides a valuable opportunity to pause, recharge and spend time with family and friends.

When we return, the second half of term promises to be just as busy and exciting. We will be holding Mother’s Day craft activities, welcoming you for Parents’ Evenings, and hosting NHS “Healthy Me” workshops. We will also be celebrating World Book Day – always a highlight in the school calendar – and there will be many more enriching experiences woven throughout the weeks towards Easter.

For now, though, it is time to take a breath and enjoy the break. Thank you once again for your continued support and for being such an important part of our school community.

Wishing you all a safe, restful and fun half term holiday. 🌷
