Spring 7                                                27 February 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

A great first week back! We have been thinking about 'Healthy Me' this week, alongside making healthy food choices, we have been discussing exercise, water intake, healthy mind and choice swaps. This was a great way to start our healthy eating PSHE topic this half term. A huge thank you to the nursing team who came in for the workshop this week it seems it has got everyone talking!

Another item that is dear to our hearts here at Sheet and has been in the news this week  highlight growing concerns about children’s use of social media and smartphones.

Governments in several countries are considering stricter rules to protect young users, including possible age restrictions and stronger age-verification systems. Regulators have also taken action against some platforms for failing to properly safeguard children’s data.

At the same time, social media companies say they are introducing new safety features, such as parental alerts and improved content monitoring. These developments have sparked important conversations among educators and families about balancing the benefits of technology with the need to support students’ wellbeing and online safety.

Currently the pact is signed by 63 children in our school and we want to make it a full house. These phones are banned at our feeder school anyway, so join the pact and help make lives for our children safer. I've included a video in the internet safety tab.

Next Week:

Year 5 are off to TPS for another music festival rehearsal, there is an 'end ball' training and game for Year 3/4 at Bohunt after school on Tuesday (only one child has signed up so far!). Another rehearsal for music festival on Wednesday and of course World Book Day on Friday. Throughout the week your child will be able to choose a teacher to listen to a story throughout school in the school day so I am sure there will be lots of excitement next week and can't wait to see your outfits and wonderful 'reading in funny places' photos.

Other news: we have frogs and frogspawn in our wildlife garden pond and it is looking fabulous in there at the moment. How wonderful that this space has been upgraded for the school; thank you to everyone who helped us create such a wonderful area.

The infant Mother's Day Lunch bookings are going fast, we currently have some spaces on both days, but book now or they will be gone :)

Thank you to those of you who have answered our poll on taking junior children to see the Lion King, sadly there are no schools discount tickets available for the whole year making each ticket £45 plus travel, such a shame.

Finally, we have ordered a skip to be delivered to school on Saturday for the morning only. Mrs Burford, Miss Leney, myself, Mr Wyman and Mrs Stephens are meeting from 8am to help clear the school and get rid of some old rubbish. If anyone could help we would really appreciate it, with 8 or 10 of us it should only take an hour or so. Thank you so much!

Have a great weekend!
