Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy week at Sheet!
Peter Pan has been in to see the infants! Many of our staff went to see the Oracy Project in action at Liphook Junior school, three children went to Bohunt School for sports, four children are going to Froxfield for cross country running, two members of staff have been updating their paediatric first aid training, violin lessons, guitar lessons, keyboard lessons, brass instrument lessons - you name it and we've probably done it this week!
The children have been using the field and the outdoor classroom a lot this week - the sun is shining and the world seems a happier place. Thank you so much to the 32 of you who have already written such wonderful and supportive messages regarding our new project; a multi-use games area. I am hoping to finish the bid at the weekend and alongside some school funds and FOSS funds - very much hope we can get this installed over the summer holidays (watch this space). A much needed and useful resource for our children at playtimes, after school clubs, PE lessons and for the community to access. Fingers crossed!
Next week:
Miss Leney is off to do DSL training, Miss Buxey hosts NCETM training here at Sheet where she will be showing off her 'mastery in maths' teaching to a group of 30 other teachers, there is an EARA network meeting, rural schools EAL meeting hosted here, staff meeting with the School Library Service - this year is 'The Year of Reading', more paediatric training and Mrs Stead and Mrs Hines continue their Oracy Project training. Sounds like this week is going to be another busy one (for staff anyway!).
Exciting news from Chartwells: Proper homemade mac n cheese & Katsu curry will be back on the menu, also new recipes following our concerns around the quality of the food since they took over our catering, I am really hopeful that the meals will continue to improve. Children will be able to have tasters soon and we are hoping that Rachel in the kitchen can bring out some tasters for parents too!
Finally, a plea.......Can anyone help weekly in our fantastic library? We are coping without a regular helper in there, but it would be really great to have someone weekly who can do all of the admin/housekeeping in there, it's such a wonderful space. Mrs Orme is doing a great job and needs help.
Thanks so much
Enjoy the sunshine!
