Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful and busy week we have had in school! ??
It has been lovely to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork, and smiling faces across all year groups as we head towards the half term break.
This week we have been taking part in Walk to School Week, and we would like to say a huge well done to all the children and families who made a special effort to walk, scoot, or cycle to school. Walking to school is a fantastic way to stay healthy, enjoy time together, and help the environment too. We know that mornings can often be busy, so we really appreciate everyone who joined in and supported the event. The children have enjoyed sharing their journeys and spotting friends along the way. Thank you for helping make this week such a success.
On Tuesday, three of our children had the exciting opportunity to visit Bedales School for a morning of outdoor learning and pizza making. The children had an amazing time exploring the outdoor environment, learning new skills, and working together to create delicious pizzas from scratch. Experiences like these are so valuable for building confidence, independence, and teamwork. The children represented our school beautifully and returned full of excitement and stories to share. Please do take a look at the photos to see some of the fun activities they enjoyed!
As we reach the end of this half term, we would like to wish all our families a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We hope you are able to spend quality time together and make the most of the sunshine. There are also several local restaurants and cafés offering “kids eat free” deals during the holidays, so it may be worth checking what is available in your local area if you are planning days out with the family.
Looking ahead to the following week, please remember that Monday 1st June is an INSET Day, so the school will be closed to pupils. Staff will be taking part in training focused on developing Oracy within our children’s learning. We are very excited about continuing to strengthen speaking and listening opportunities across the curriculum, helping children to become confident communicators who can express themselves clearly and thoughtfully.
From Tuesday through to Friday we will be celebrating our much-anticipated I Am Me Week. This is a very special week in school, giving children opportunities to learn about themselves, others, and the wider world around them. We have an exciting line-up of visitors and special guests joining us throughout the week, and there will be a themed assembly each day. The children always enjoy hearing different experiences and perspectives, and we know these sessions will inspire lots of thoughtful discussion. On Thursday we are especially excited to welcome a very SPECIAL guest into school — we are keeping it a surprise for now, but we know the children will love it! At present there are just two children signed up for the rounders lesson on Tuesday 2nd June, we are trying hard to keep this available to everyone but paying for a member of staff for 2 children seems such a waste, however if your child is in year 1 or 2 and fancies rounders on Tuesday 2nd, please sign up for it!
Mrs Hines and the EARA team will also be attending an important EARA meeting next week as we continue to work closely with our wider school community and partnerships.
Finally, FOSS will be running their popular Father’s Day Crafts sessions on Thursday and Friday. The children always enjoy getting creative and making thoughtful gifts for the important people in their lives, and we are very grateful to FOSS for organising these lovely activities.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and positivity throughout the term. We are incredibly proud of all our children and the enthusiasm they bring to school each day. We hope everyone has a well-earned break both staff and families filled with sunshine, laughter, adventure, and lots of happy memories.
