Dear Parents and Carers,
A Week to Remember⦠and an Exciting One Still to Come!
As we move ever closer to the end of another fantastic academic year, this week has reminded me just how much our children achieve when they are given opportunities to shine. From swimming pools to sandy beaches, from violins to the African savannah (via our spectacular production of The Lion King!), it has certainly been a week full of memorable experiences.
Swimming Success Across Two Galas π
What a wonderful way to begin the week by reflecting on two fantastic swimming galas.
Last Friday evening, selected children from Years 5 and 6 represented Sheet Primary School at the Small Schools Swimming Gala, enjoying a beautiful summer evening filled with friendly competition. The children demonstrated determination, resilience and outstanding sportsmanship throughout.
The excitement continued this week as another team of children from Years 4, 5 and 6 competed in the Bohunt Primary Schools Gala at Highfield. Competing against much larger schools is never easy, but every one of our swimmers should feel incredibly proud. They represented our school with tremendous energy, vigour and enthusiasm, giving their very best in every race.
Thank you to all the parents and families who supported both events. Your encouragement from the sidelines means so much to our young athletes.
A Brilliant Violin Concert π»
Our Herons class showcased the results of months of dedication during their violin concert this week.
The confidence, musicality and enjoyment displayed by the children was wonderful to see. Learning an instrument develops perseverance, concentration and creativity, and it was clear just how much progress has been made.
I have a feeling this performance may well inspire several children to continue learning the violin beyond primary school. We look forward to hearing where their musical journeys take them.
The Lion King Roars into Sheet! π¦
Wow! What an incredible production of The Lion King our Key Stage 2 children delivered.
Each year our production somehow becomes even better, and this year's performance certainly raised the bar once again. The acting, singing, dancing and confidence on display were exceptional, while the improvements in sound quality helped create a truly professional performance.
Using our new Outdoor Classroom as the backdrop added another dimension to the show and created a magical atmosphere for performers and audience alike.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Hines, Mrs Repp and the entire KS2 team, who have spent countless hours rehearsing, organising costumes, supporting the children and ensuring every detail came together perfectly.
Our thanks also go to FOSS for organising the bar and ticket sales so efficiently, helping the evenings run so smoothly.
Most importantly, congratulations to every single child involved. You gave us a production that will be remembered for many years to come.
Learning Beyond the Classroom π
Herons enjoyed a fantastic geography field trip to The Witterings this week as part of their learning about coastal environments.
The weather could not have been kinder, providing the perfect opportunity to explore the coastline first-hand. The children investigated coastal features, deepened their geographical understanding and, of course, managed to fit in the creation of some rather impressive sandcastles too!
Learning experiences like these help bring classroom topics to life and create memories that last well beyond primary school.
Year 2 Get Active
Our Year 2 children enjoyed a wonderful morning at the annual TPS Sports Event, taking part in a range of sporting activities alongside children from other local schools.
They demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination and enthusiasm throughout the morning.
A special thank you to Mrs Mifsud and Mrs Ward for accompanying the children and helping make the visit such a success.
Colour Run Tonight! π
Tonight sees one of the highlights of the FOSS calendarβthe annual Colour Run!
If you've never experienced it before, you're certainly in for a treat. It is colourful, energetic, messy and enormous fun from start to finish. We hope everyone taking part has an amazing evening.
Thank you, as always, to FOSS for organising yet another fantastic community event.
School Reports and Parent Feedback
Your child's annual report will be coming home in book bags this evening.
I hope you enjoy reading about your child's achievements, progress and personal development over the past year. Our staff invest a great deal of time and thought into writing each report, ensuring they celebrate every child's unique journey.
Please do complete the parent response sheet and return it to school. Staff genuinely enjoy reading your comments and feedback, and it helps us reflect on the impact of our work.
This also serves as a gentle reminder about our Annual Parent Survey.
At present we have received just 35 responses, whereas we would normally expect around 80% of families to take part.
Your views are incredibly important. Governors and staff carefully read every response and use your feedback to celebrate strengths, identify priorities and shape future improvements. If you haven't yet completed the survey, please do spare a few minutes to share your thoughts.
Thank you for helping us continue to make Sheet Primary School the very best it can be.
Looking Ahead to Next Week π
As we begin our final full week of term, there is still plenty to look forward to.
- No after-school clubs will be running next week, with the exception of Dance Club, which will meet as usual on Friday to make up for the session lost during the recent hot weather.
- Wednesday is our annual Transition Day. Every child will spend the day in their new classroom with their teacher for September. It is always an exciting opportunity for children to meet new classmates, settle any worries and begin looking ahead to the new academic year. We are especially looking forward to welcoming Miss Worsfold, who will be meeting Herons for the first time. All teachers will be available after school for you to meet!
- On Thursday, our Year 5 children will take part in the annual TPS Sports Event, and we wish them every success.
- Friday promises another exciting day. Our Year 6 children will enjoy their well-deserved Leavers' Trip, while our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils head to Wylds Farm to participate in an exciting Shakespeare workshop based on Macbeth, delivered as part of the Petersfield Shakespeare Festival. This promises to be a memorable opportunity for children to experience one of Shakespeare's most famous plays in an engaging and interactive outdoor setting.
As another wonderful week draws to a close, thank you once again for your continued support. We look forward to seeing many of you at the Colour Run this evening and to enjoying another exciting week of learning, achievement and celebration together.
