Summer 11                                                     17 July 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

THIS WEEK

Final Swimming Sessions

Herons and selected children from Kestrels enjoyed their final swimming lesson of the year this week. It has been wonderful to see the progress the children have made, not only in their swimming ability but also in their confidence and resilience in the water. Well done to everyone for their fantastic efforts throughout the year.

Transition Week

This week has been all about looking ahead. Our Year 6 children enjoyed both their transition evening and transition day at The Petersfield School, while children across the rest of the school spent time with their new teachers ready for September.

Thank you to all of the parents who came along to meet our teaching staff and everyone is looking forward to another exciting year at Sheet Primary School.

Herons Visit Wylds Farm

Year 4 and 5 had a wonderful morning at Wylds Farm taking part in a 'Macbeth' workshop. The children thoroughly enjoyed bringing Shakespeare's famous play to life through drama and performance, and it was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and confidence grow throughout the morning. If you haven't been before I urge you to go: https://wyldsfarmevents.co.uk/ it is a beautiful place with so many events taking place for the community.

Year 6 Leavers' Day

Our Year 6 children enjoyed a very special Leavers' Day, spending time at Alice Holt before returning to school for Forest School activities in the afternoon. It was a lovely opportunity for them to celebrate their time at Sheet Primary School together, reflect on their memories and enjoy one last adventure before moving on to secondary school.

NEXT WEEK – OUR FINAL FEW DAYS!

It is hard to believe we are approaching the end of another wonderful school year. We have a few special events still to enjoy together.

Monday

2:30pm – Year 6 Leavers' Assembly

All Year 6 parents are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate the achievements of our wonderful Year 6 children and wish them every success for the future.

6:00pm–8:00pm – Year 6 Leavers' Disco

The celebrations continue with the Year 6 Leavers' Disco on the school field. We hope that the current Kestrels have a fantastic evening making more special memories together.

Wednesday

Parent Governor Election

The votes for our Parent Governor election will be counted on Wednesday. Good luck to both Mr Muchmore and Mr Sutton, and thank you to both candidates for offering to support the school community in this important role. Please vote if you haven't already!

11:00am – End of Term Celebration Assembly – "The Big One!"

Weather permitting, our final celebration assembly will take place outside and promises to be a wonderful way to end the school year together.

12:00pm – Whole School Picnic

Following the assembly, the school grounds will open for our whole school picnic. This is always a lovely occasion and provides an opportunity for families, staff and children to celebrate another successful year together.

During the picnic we will also say a fond farewell to Mr Spiers and Mrs Burford, thanking them both for everything they have contributed to the Sheet Primary School community. We wish them every happiness and success for the future.

If anyone is able to stay afterwards to help take down the marquee, your support would be greatly appreciated.

REMINDERS

  • PE kits should be worn on the final days of term, rather than normal clothes, unless your child has a birthday during the holidays of course!
  • The warm weather looks set to continue, so please ensure your child comes to school with:
    • Sun cream applied before school
    • A sun hat
    • A named water bottle (or juice, which is still permitted in this warm weather)
  • Please take a few moments to check the lost property before the end of term. Any unnamed items remaining after the holidays will be donated or recycled. We have A LOT!

Finally, thank you for your continued support throughout what has been another incredibly busy and successful year. There are still a few special memories to make before we break up for the summer, and we look forward to celebrating with you all next week. Have a wonderful weekend!

Please see a lovely letter from our Chair of Governors for you all.

Internet Safety

Lego have a website: Raising Digitally Smart families

here there is a collection of quick guides for parents and discovery together.

Have a look through, there is no doubt that technology is an essential part of modern life and future employment, but research continues to highlight the importance of limiting recreational screen time during childhood.

Our approach is therefore one of balance. We teach children the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a digital world—online safety, critical thinking, responsible communication, media literacy and the effective use of technology for learning—while also valuing face-to-face relationships, outdoor play, reading, creativity and physical activity.

Our aim is not to raise children who spend more time on screens; it is to raise children who know when, why and how to use technology wisely.
