Dear Parents and Carers

We said a sad farewell to our:

Year 6 children today and families leaving us:

The Windsors, the Wilbys, the Sharps, the McCarthys, the Masseys, the Griffiths, the Killicks (perhaps will be back), the Gradidges and Anderson - we wish you all well in the future.

Children: Goodbye and good luck to Grace Cheesman and family and a warm welcome to Elle McGrann who returns after many years overseas!

Staff: We say goodbye to the wonderful Mr Spiers, who has had an amazing year at Sheet Primary School as Herons teacher. You have been awesome to work with and wish you luck in your new post.

Mrs Burford - what can I say! We will miss you more than you will ever know, but hope you have the very best time jetting away in school term times, relaxing and living a new 'stress free' lifestyle. Don't forget to help us in the spare time you may have - we know you have a minibus licence for a few more months :)

If your child takes regular medication, they should be bringing home their medicines today - please can you bring back medication in September in a labelled bag so that it is easily identifiable.

You should have received the end of term letter and changes last night, the report on parent and pupil surveys and letter from governors last week.

Which leaves me to say, have the most wonderful summer. Stay safe!

Attendance Sheet 2026 - 96.5%

National Average 94.7%

Academic Year Overview

Attendance has remained strong throughout the academic year, with whole-school attendance regularly exceeding the national expectation of 96%. Despite the usual seasonal illnesses during the autumn and winter terms, attendance recovered well in the spring and remained consistently high through much of the summer term.

Overall attendance ranged between 94.1% and 98.8%, demonstrating good engagement with school and the effectiveness of our continued focus on attendance.

Whole School Attendance

Strengths

Whole-school attendance exceeded 97% during eleven separate weeks.
The highest weekly attendance was 98.8% (week commencing 12 January), closely followed by 98.81% (27 April).
Attendance remained particularly strong throughout the summer half term, despite national concerns around illness and exceptionally hot weather

Overall, attendance remains strong across the school, reflects the positive culture of belonging and engagement, and continues to compare favourably with national expectations.

Have a look through, there is no doubt that technology is an essential part of modern life and future employment, but research continues to highlight the importance of limiting recreational screen time during childhood.

Our approach is therefore one of balance. We teach children the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a digital world—online safety, critical thinking, responsible communication, media literacy and the effective use of technology for learning—while also valuing face-to-face relationships, outdoor play, reading, creativity and physical activity.

Our aim is not to raise children who spend more time on screens; it is to raise children who know when, why and how to use technology wisely.
