Dear Parents and Carers
This Week
On Monday, two teams from Year 6 took part in the annual quiz afternoon at Churcher's College and had a great time. There were some really tricky questions, but the children took it all in their stride. Well done to everyone who took part!
This year, we have again entered a junior team into the National Quiz Championships. If you remember, last year we did really well and had such a great time preparing for the heats. To that end, I will be holding quiz selection games today for Herons and next week for Kestrels to find our four lucky representatives from each year group.
The Scholastic Book Fair has been a great success all week. Thank you to everyone who came along to buy books and help raise funds for the school. It is always lovely to see the children so enthusiastic about choosing new books.
We also had a very successful FOSS AGM last night where Rob Tregaskes, Sam Standerwick and Alice Cox were all voted in as Treasurer, Chair and Vice-Chair. Thanks to everyone who came along.
Cauliflower Art Christmas Cards
A quick reminder that any orders for Cauliflower Art Christmas cards need to be in by Monday at the very latest.
New School Lunch Menus
This afternoon, your child will bring home a Chartwells poster and a fridge magnet with a QR code giving you access to the new school lunch menu, which starts after half term. The new picture menus are also attached to this newsletter.
Please note that we will NOT be offering Packed Lunch Option 5 during the Autumn or Spring terms, despite it appearing on the menus.
Next Week
We round off the first half term with a very busy week!
On Monday, Herons will be heading off to Butser Ancient Farm, and we also have Harvest Festival rehearsals, EARA meetings and Parents' Evenings taking place throughout the week.
A reminder that Parents' Evening appointments are for 10 minutes only. If you feel you need longer, please arrange a separate meeting with your child's teacher so that everyone can be seen on time. Thank you for your understanding.
Halloween Costume Day and Spooky Fun Run – Friday 23rd October
On Friday, children are welcome to come to school dressed in their Halloween costumes, ready for our Spooky Sponsored Fun Run after school.
Please don't forget to collect your sponsorship money! This can come in from Monday. The child who raises the most money will win a big box of sweets, so there is plenty of incentive!
There will also be refreshments, sweets and music after school, so please come along and join us. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we will raise lots of money for the school.
MacMillan Coffee afternoon raised £54.30
It has been a busy first half term, and I think everyone is ready for a well-earned break by next Friday!
Have a lovely weekend!
