Autumn 9                                                     6 Nov 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

THIS WEEK

We've had a good start to the new half term, with a definite winter crispness in the air, just in time to get us thinking about our Fireworks Night this Saturday!

Sheet Fireworks Night – Saturday 7th November at the Millennium Field

Gates open at 4pm, with the fireworks display at 6pm. There will be a bar and hot food available, so come along and make an evening of it!

This is our biggest fundraising event of the year, so please do come along and support us. A huge amount of work goes into organising the evening, and the money raised makes such a difference to the children at Sheet Primary. If you haven't bought your tickets yet, please do, and encourage family and friends to come along too. Fingers crossed for a lovely clear evening!

Tickets are available here: https://www.ticketsource.com/friends-of-sheet-school

A big thank you to everyone who entered our Guy competition. We had some fantastic creations! Congratulations to Charlie Pothecary-Skinner, who was our winner and has won the pizza prize kindly donated by The Queen's Head, Sheet. Well done, Charlie, and thank you to The Queen's Head for supporting us!

NEXT WEEK

Next week, Henry Adams will be launching their Christmas competition, so we look forward to hearing more about that.

Hampshire Library Service will also be visiting to collect and deliver books. If you have any school library books at home that you've finished reading, please could you return them so that we can exchange them for some lovely new ones.

Our Year 1 and 2 children will be heading off on their trip to Fort Nelson, which I'm sure will be a great day out with plenty to talk about when they return!

Otherwise, it's looking like a relatively quiet week in school, which I think many of us will be quite glad of after a busy first half term!

Have a lovely weekend and I shall see you Saturday!

Internet Safety

Online Safety – Teaching Children About Consent 💻

As children spend more time online, it is important that they understand consent – not just in the real world, but in the digital world too.

Consent is about asking permission, respecting other people's choices and understanding that everyone has the right to say 'no'. For younger children, this might mean asking before hugging a friend or sharing a photograph. As they get older, it includes understanding that they should never feel pressured to share personal information, photographs or videos online.

We encourage parents to have regular, age-appropriate conversations with their children about:

  • Asking permission before taking or sharing photographs of others.

  • Respecting boundaries – understanding that 'no' means 'no', both online and offline.

  • Keeping personal information private and never sharing images or information because someone has pressured them.

  • Speaking to a trusted adult if something online makes them feel uncomfortable, worried or confused.

It is also important that children know they can change their minds and that they will not be in trouble for asking an adult for help.

Useful links for parents:

  • NSPCC – Keeping children safe online – practical advice for parents.

  • Childnet – Online safety advice for parents – guidance on privacy, sharing images and online relationships.

  • Internet Matters – age-specific advice and conversation starters.

  • CEOP Education – resources to help families talk about online safety.

At Sheet Primary School, we want children to understand that their bodies, feelings and personal information belong to them, and that they should always respect the same rights in others.

A simple conversation at home can make a big difference.
